Ógra Skincare

Ógra Skincare is a Tullamore-based Irish company and, by its own description, the only full skincare range built around raised-bog peat. Its Croghan Hill peat — from the same bog where the Iron Age “Old Croghan Man” bog body was discovered in 2003 — has been dated by Glasgow University to over 9,000 years old and found to be 98–99% organic material with antioxidant and antiseptic properties. The range spans a peat face and body mask, moisturizer, eye cream, exfoliant, and cleanser, distributed through the brand’s own website and Irish retailers. Ógra was founded in 2008.

Peat from Ireland is mainly blanket bog peat and raised bog peat. Peat — the organic sediment itself — is used in treatments like peat balneotherapy, peat body wraps, and peat mud pack, most often explored for psoriasis, back pain (chronic low back pain), joint inflammation (osteoarthritis, rheumatic conditions), and eczema (atopic dermatitis).
