Funding & Conflict of Interest

Cosmetic Peat Association is an independent educational organisation focused on cosmetic and therapeutic peat. We publish this page so readers, researchers, and journalists can judge our conclusions with full knowledge of who we are.

Legal structure

Cosmetic Peat Association MTÜ is a registered Estonian non-profit association (registrikood 80673322), based in Tallinn, Estonia. It has no shareholders and does not distribute profit — there is no commercial owner of this website.

Governance and finances

The Association was entered into the Estonian Register of Non-profit Associations and Foundations on 22 May 2026. Its financial year runs from 1 January to 31 December. The management board consists of Indrek Sakkeus and Jimmy Karp; the registry entry is public and can be checked at ariregister.rik.ee.

The Association has no trading income. It sells nothing, charges no membership fee, and carries no advertising. Its running costs — domain, hosting, and access to research databases — are currently covered by its founding members, and by donations made to the Association's own bank account (details on our Support Our Work page).

The first annual report, covering the 2026 financial year, will be filed with the Estonian Business Register by 30 June 2027 as required by Estonian law, and published on this page.

Industry affiliation

Some founders, board members, contributors, or supporters of CPA may also be active in the cosmetic peat industry — for example, as operators or advisors of peat-based skincare brands. This is common for a young, niche non-profit: the people with the deepest knowledge of a specialist field are often also the people working in it.

These affiliations are disclosed here rather than hidden. They do not determine which claims we publish or how we grade evidence. A brand run by a CPA contributor receives the same treatment in our directory as any other listed brand — no preferential placement, no different evidence standard applied to claims associated with it.

What we do not do

  • We do not accept payment in exchange for a specific evidence rating, product mention, or directory placement.
  • We do not sell peat products or take commission on sales.
  • We do not run paid or sponsored content.
  • We do not buy backlinks or engage in link schemes to inflate our search visibility.

Advertising

CPA is pursuing a Google Ad Grant, a program available to registered non-profits that funds search advertising for educational, non-commercial content. Ad Grant rules explicitly prohibit commercial or sales-oriented campaigns, which fits how this site already operates.
