Peat Scalp Treatments

Therapies
Also known as: scalp treatment, scalp mask, peat hair treatment
Method: topical
Duration: 5–30 minutes (masks), daily use (shampoos/conditioners)
Frequency: 1–3 times per week for masks, daily or alternate days for wash products
Temperature: Room temperature
Preparation: Peat extract or paste formulated as scalp mask, shampoo, conditioner, or tonic

Peat scalp treatments encompass a range of products — scalp masks, shampoos, conditioners, tonics, and leave-on treatments — formulated with peat extract or paste for scalp health. They address the scalp as a distinct skin area with unique challenges (hair coverage, sebum production, microbial environment).

Product Forms

Scalp masks: Intensive treatment applied to scalp for 10–30 minutes before washing. Highest concentration of actives, strongest effects. Shampoos: Daily or regular use, lower concentration but consistent exposure. Peat extract replaces or complements conventional active ingredients. Conditioners/tonics: Leave-on or rinse-off products that condition scalp skin after cleansing.

Scalp-Specific Advantages

Peat’s pH (3.5–5.5) is naturally compatible with the scalp’s acid mantle, unlike many conventional shampoos (pH 5.5–7.0+). The combination of antimicrobial, keratolytic, and anti-inflammatory effects in a single natural ingredient addresses the interconnected pathology of most scalp conditions. The mineral content (zinc, sulfur) adds further therapeutic value.
