Mud or sediment naturally heated by geothermal activity or mixed with thermal mineral water. Found at hot springs and thermal lake sites. The thermal component adds heat therapy to the chemical effects of the mud.
Notable Thermal Mud Sites
- Lake Hévíz (Hungary) — World’s largest thermal lake, peat-like organic mud
- Abano Terme (Italy) — Volcanic fango matured in thermal water
- Piešťany (Slovakia) — Sulfurous thermal mud
