Therme Bad Aibling

Bad Aibling’s peat-therapy history dates to 1845, when physician Desiderius Beck opened Bavaria’s first peat-pulp spa here — the world’s first saline peat-pulp health resort. Beck’s own venture failed, but entrepreneur Karl von Berüff revived it in 1871 as “Ludwigsbad,” and the town earned its official “Bad” spa designation in 1895. Therme Bad Aibling carries that tradition forward with moor baths, moor body ceremonies (40°C, 15 minutes in a steam dome), and moor sauna, using the same local raised bog moor prized for its humic acid content.
